Slab Pre-Pour Inspection
OVERVIEW
The slab is the foundation of the house, and should be checked thoroughly before the concrete is poured. Our inspectors often see dozens of defects at the slab pre-pour stage, and if not fixed, these defects can result in foundation movement (known as “slab heave”) as well as other major problems.
Our Inspectors will check that the site is ready for the concrete pour. Usually this inspection is booked for the afternoon prior to the concrete pour so that all the defects that we find can be fixed on the spot by the concretors.
When is my slab ready for inspection?
Once you see the underground pipes installed, the slab will be poured within a couple of days (see inset photo). The slab pre-pour is usually ready for inspection about a week after the site start (the first day the builder starts working). Often the site supervisor will have already booked-in the underground services and the concretor before they even make contact with you as the homeowner. Therefore it is important to let your builder know that you are going to book Skycheck Inspections for your slab pre-pour inspection.

Yes, of course! The timing of the Slab Pre-Pour Inspection is crucial, and we can liaise with the builder if required.
-
The Slab Pre-Pour Inspection is different from the other stages, in that we are usually on site with the concretors, and can point out the defects as we find them. That way, the defects are fixed whilst we are on site.
